The changing seasons are upon us again, with warming weather and tentatively hopeful signs of a warm Spring to come. This issue focuses on a local artisan, Tina, whose woolen creations are a warm, colourful note in an otherwise still grey and fairly bitter climate. Her designs are simple, but very homely and handmade in Christchurch, New Zealand. We look at some of her handiwork with woollen yarn as well as dried flowers and other textiles. We also photograph a young student celebrating her first birthday out of high school and into university. She wears a beautiful kimono following the tradition in Japan, however the Southern Hemisphere's backward seasons mean the second semester is already well underway, instead of the celebration being at the start of the academic year. The Botanic Gardens and Arts Centre in Christchurch give a traditional and pleasant background to our photohgraphy in this issue, especially the cherry blossom trees found throughout the grounds of the park.
